What it means for the Denver Broncos to coach the Senior Bowl
The Denver Broncos were one of two pro teams selected to Coach the Senior Bowl later this month. Practices will be held between January 23-25 and the game (Reese’s Senior Bowl) will be played in Mobile Alabama, at Ladd- Pebble Stadium on Jan 27th 2018, kickoff is at 1:30pm CT. Only Seniors and fourth year Juniors who graduate in December are eligible to play in the Senior Bowl. The Denver Broncos will coach the North Team against the South Team which will be coached by the Houston Texans. For the Denver Broncos this opportunity is monumental, they will be able to see exactly who these players are before the NFL Draft in April, which should be a huge advantage in the long run. Coaching these players allows extra insight to how they respond to certain situations on and off the field. As we all know, the Broncos need a Quarterback and they currently have the 5th overall pick in the NFL Draft. Unless they trade up draft positions, the Broncos will not be able to get either of the top two Quarterbacks- Sam Darnold (USC) or Josh Rosen (UCLA), assuming they go one and two. Notable Quarterbacks that have accepted their invite are Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma), Mason Rudolph (OSU), and Luke Falk (Wash. St). Josh Allen (Wyoming) who is also eligible for the Senior Bowl has not yet accepted his invite. Both Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield are likely to be drafted in the first round, and the Broncos have been rumored to have interest in both players. Being able to coach these guys will increase the Broncos odds for success if they do decide to go that route. Every year at the Senior Bowl there are players that may be under the radar or underrated who prove they are more than worthy of being drafted by an NFL team, which is why this opportunity is so important for the Broncos, they simple can’t afford to make mistakes in this years draft. I'm interested to know what your opinion is and who you think the Denver Broncos should Draft with the fifth overall pick in this years draft.
